Conditions We Treat at Physio Friend Singapore

At Physio Friend, our physiotherapy conditions treated in Singapore span back pain, knee pain, frozen shoulder, sports injuries, and more — at our Tampines and Yishun clinics. Whether your pain came on suddenly from an injury, developed gradually from desk work, or has been present for years without a clear cause — we will assess it thoroughly, explain what is causing it, and build a treatment plan around your life.

Select a condition below to learn more about how physiotherapy can help. If you cannot find what you are looking for, book an assessment and our team will diagnose and explain your situation clearly. No referral needed.

Neck

Aching, stiffness, or tension in the neck from prolonged sitting, screen use, or poor posture. One of the most common presentations in Singapore’s desk-working population.

Whiplash

Neck pain and stiffness following a sudden acceleration-deceleration injury — most commonly from a road accident. Early physiotherapy significantly reduces the risk of chronic pain.

Shoulder | Elbow
Rotator Cuff

Pain, weakness, or restricted movement from a tear or strain of the rotator cuff tendons. Common in overhead athletes, manual workers, and after falls onto an outstretched arm.

Impingement

Pain with overhead reaching caused by compression of the rotator cuff tendons under the shoulder’s bony arch. Responds very well to physiotherapy and specific strengthening.

Frozen Shoulder

Progressive stiffness and pain in the shoulder that makes daily tasks like dressing genuinely difficult. TR-Therapy at Physio Friend is particularly effective for this condition.

Unstable Shoulder

A shoulder that dislocates, subluxes, or feels loose — typically following trauma or in hypermobile individuals. Targeted rehabilitation significantly reduces recurrence risk.

Elbow Pain

Including tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis), and other elbow conditions from overuse or direct trauma.

Hand | Wrist
Trigger Finger

A finger that catches, clicks, or locks when bending. Caused by inflammation of the tendon sheath. Physiotherapy, splinting, and dry needling are all effective treatment options.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Numbness, tingling, and pain in the hand from compression of the median nerve at the wrist. Common in desk workers, pregnant women, and those with repetitive hand use.

DeQuervain's Tenosynovitis

Pain on the thumb side of the wrist, worsened by gripping or lifting. Frequently seen in new parents and those with repetitive thumb movements.

Back Pain
Prolapse Disc | PID | Slipped Disc

When disc material bulges outward and presses on a nearby nerve root, causing local back pain and often referred pain into the leg (sciatica). Most cases resolve well with physiotherapy.

Spinal Stenosis

Narrowing of the spinal canal that compresses nerve tissue, typically causing leg pain, heaviness, and cramping with walking. Common in older adults.

Compression / Pars Fracture

A fracture within the spinal vertebra from stress, trauma, or osteoporosis. Physiotherapy focuses on pain management, movement restoration, and loading rehabilitation.

Spondylosis

Age-related degeneration of the spinal discs and joints producing stiffness, aching, and reduced spinal movement. Physiotherapy maintains function and reduces pain long-term.

Spondylolisthesis

One vertebra slipping forward over another, causing back pain, hamstring tightness, and sometimes nerve symptoms. Stabilisation exercises are the primary treatment.

Scoliosis

A lateral curvature of the spine. Physiotherapy cannot reverse structural scoliosis but significantly reduces pain, improves posture, and maintains function.

Knee
Anterior Knee Pain

Pain around or under the kneecap, often from patellofemoral dysfunction. Extremely common in runners, cyclists, and desk workers. Responds well to targeted physiotherapy.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament

ACL tears are one of the most significant sports injuries managed with physiotherapy. A structured 9–12 month rehabilitation programme is essential for safe return to sport.

Meniscal Injury

Tears or degeneration of the cartilage pads within the knee. Many meniscal injuries — including partial tears — respond well to physiotherapy without surgery.

Osteoarthritis Knee

Degenerative cartilage loss causing pain, swelling, and stiffness in the knee. Exercise therapy is the most evidence-supported long-term management strategy.

Muscle Strain | Muscle Pull

Tears of the quadriceps, hamstring, or calf muscle from sudden exertion. Structured rehabilitation prevents re-injury and restores full strength.

Ankle | Foot
Shin Splint

Pain along the inner shin from overloading the tibia — a common running injury, particularly when training load increases rapidly.

Archilis Tendinopathy

Pain and stiffness in the Achilles tendon, typically worse after rest and with the first steps of the day. Progressive tendon loading is the cornerstone of treatment.

Ankle Sprain

Ligament injuries from rolling the ankle. Even mild sprains can lead to chronic instability without proper rehabilitation — physiotherapy significantly reduces recurrence risk.

Ankle Impingement

Pain at the front or back of the ankle when moving into full range — from pinching of soft tissue or bone. Common in dancers, footballers, and gymnasts.

Plantar Fasciitis

Heel and arch pain, worst with the first steps in the morning. Orthotics, dry needling, manual therapy, and specific stretching are all effective treatment options.

Flat Foot

A reduced or absent foot arch that can contribute to heel, ankle, knee, and lower back pain. Orthotics and foot-specific strengthening are the primary management strategies.

Not sure which condition you have?

That is completely normal — many patients are not sure whether their pain is coming from the joint, the muscle, a nerve, or something referred from somewhere else entirely. That is exactly what a physiotherapy assessment is for.

Book an assessment at our Tampines or Yishun clinic and our team will tell you clearly what is causing your pain and what to do about it. No referral needed. No packages. Just straightforward, honest care.
