What Are TENS and NMES?

Adhesive electrodes deliver controlled electrical impulses through the skin. TENS is selected mainly for temporary pain relief, while NMES creates controlled muscle contractions to support activation, strength or motor retraining after injury, surgery, immobilisation or selected neurological problems. Your physiotherapist chooses the mode, intensity and duration after an assessment.

Your skin, sensation and symptoms are checked before adhesive electrodes are positioned. The intensity is increased gradually and adjusted to your comfort.
