What We Offer
Dry Needling
Neuromuscular Dry Needling
at Physio Friend
What is Neuromuscular Dry Needling?
Neuromuscular Dry Needling (NDN) is a modern, evidence-based technique used by physiotherapists to treat muscle pain, tension, and movement dysfunction. Using fine, sterile needles, we target specific “trigger points” within muscles to release tight bands of tissue, improve blood flow, and restore normal muscle activation.
Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine, NDN is grounded in Western anatomy and neurophysiology. It’s designed to address the root cause of pain and stiffness by working directly on the neuromuscular system.
Why Choose Dry Needling?
Many patients come to us after trying conventional massage, stretching, or medication — but still feel stuck with stubborn tightness or pain. That’s where dry needling can make a difference:
- Relieves muscle tightness & spasms
- Reduces pain from trigger points
- Improves mobility & flexibility
- Enhances recovery after injury
- Optimises performance for athletes
At Physio Friend, we often use NDN as part of a broader treatment plan — creating a “window of opportunity” where pain and tightness are reduced, so you can move better, exercise more effectively, and achieve long-term results.
What Makes Physio Friend Different?
At Physio Friend, dry needling isn’t just an “add-on” — it’s thoughtfully integrated into your personalised treatment plan.

We combine NDN with manual therapy, targeted exercise, and movement retraining to deliver lasting outcomes.

Safety first
All our therapists are fully trained, certified, and skilled in performing dry needling safely and effectively.

Patient-first philosophy
We treat every patient the way we’d treat a close friend or family member.
What to Expect in a Session
- 1. Assessment – We identify the source of your pain or dysfunction.
- 2. Dry Needling – Fine needles are gently inserted into specific trigger points. You may feel a quick twitch or ache, which is normal.
- 3. Techniques- Depending on individual needs and tolerance level, your Physio may, at this point, perform higher-grade techniques such as twisting the needles, gliding the needles in a piston-like manner, or even running an electrical current through the needles.
- 4. Relief & Recovery – Muscles relax, circulation improves, and pain is reduced.
- 5. Follow-Up Care – We guide you with exercises and strategies to maintain results and prevent recurrence.
