Frequently Asked Questions

1. What conditions do physiotherapists treat?

At Physio Friend, we treat a wide range of musculoskeletal and post-operative conditions. This includes acute and chronic muscle, ligament, or tendon injuries; spinal and joint conditions; vertigo; post-surgical rehabilitation (such as joint replacements or surgical repairs); nerve-related issues; and even certain types of headaches related to the neck and musculoskeletal system.

2. What conditions are you unable to treat?

Due to the design and layout of our clinics, we are not able to provide treatment for developmental paediatric cases or patients with specific neurological conditions resulting in low mobility. However, we would be glad to connect you with trusted healthcare professionals within our network who specialise in these areas.

3. Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist?

No referral is needed to book an appointment with us. All our physiotherapists are trained in advanced musculoskeletal assessment and diagnosis, and can see you directly.

4. How long is each physiotherapy session?

Session duration depends on the complexity of your condition and treatment needs. At Physio Friend, sessions typically range from 30 to 60 minutes. Initial consultations are 45 minutes (unless otherwise informed), ensuring we have enough time to thoroughly assess, diagnose, and begin treatment.

5. What should I expect on my first visit?

Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to complete a short intake form. Your physiotherapist will begin with a detailed discussion of your symptoms and medical history, followed by a comprehensive physical examination. Once the assessment is complete, we will explain your diagnosis and treatment plan. The remainder of your session will focus on starting treatment tailored to your condition.

6. How much does a session cost?

Our consultation and treatment fees are transparent and vary depending on session type and duration, ranging from $180 to $320 (excl. GST). Please contact us directly for our latest fee schedule.

7. What should I wear to my appointment?

We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated (e.g., shorts for lower limb conditions, sleeveless or loose tops for upper limb and neck concerns). In some cases, partial undressing may be required for accurate assessment and treatment.

8. Do you accept insurance?

While Physio Friend is not on any direct insurance panels, all our physiotherapists are registered with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC). This means most insurance providers recognise and reimburse our sessions. Please check with your insurer regarding your policy requirements prior to making an appointment. Receipts will be provided after each session for claims submission.

9. How do I book or reschedule an appointment?

You can:

10. What is your cancellation policy?

We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment.

  • Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a fee of 50% of the consultation charge.
  • Missed appointments (“no-shows”) will incur the full consultation fee.
